It Just Isn't Dignified

I've passed the point in pregnancy where I can look sharp-dressed or dignified. I can still look cute, but courtroom dignified is now beyond me. I can look comfortable and pregnant or cute and pregnant or slobby and pregnant, but those are pretty much my only options at this point.

Also not contributing to my appearance of dignity: The old-man noises I make getting in and out of chairs, and the crumbs all down my front every time I eat.

Seriously - I never knew how many crumbs I spill until they got caught on my belly. And let me tell you how funny it was working at Barnes and Noble with uncontrollable pregnancy gas while people followed me to get them a book! CP

I once saw a woman who was about 9 months pregnant argue at the Seventh Circuit. Her belly was so big, she had to turn sideways at the lecturn and then twist her upper torso so her arms could reach it. The all-old-male judge panel looked very uncomfortable with the whole thing and didn't ask her any questions. She looked really good in her suit, but I could tell she was really uncomfortable.

Well, at least you get to look cute while looking undignified!

This is hard for some women to accept, because they don't feel very attractive, but many men find pregnant women, especially the last trimester, to be very beautiful. Note that doesn't mean sexually attractive! There's something about a pregnant woman that makes us want to help and protect them. Must be genetic!
