We had Orange Cat put down this afternoon. He'd been getting weaker since the beginning of the week, and had declined precipitously in the last day and a half. We knew it was time.
It's hard, of course, but he had a good life and it was time to let him go.
The staff at Meadowbrook Vet and Dr. Wulfkuhle in particular have been fantastic through Orange Cat's whole diabetes/kidney failure/etc., and we were glad Dr. W was able to do the euthanasia. It was very peaceful and painless.

So sorry about Orange Cat. I lost my cat last week so I know how you feel.:(
(((Koi and Garth and Orange Cat)))
Awww, Laura. I'm so sorry.
I am so sorry :( My thoughts are with you ~
I'm so sorry you are going through this. It is awful, I know. Take the time you need to grieve, and someday, you will have a little orange cat that will carry his torch.
Sorry to hear about OC.
My condolences on the loss of Orange Cat. From reading your blog, I know you did everything possible for him. He was so lucky to have you in his life!

So sorry about Orange Cat. What a good life you provided that kitty. I know how hard it is to put down a very loved pet.
sorry you lost your tough ol' cat, it's hard to deal with. it sounds like he lived the hell out of his life though!
I feel so sad for you and am glad Orange Cat is not suffering and had such a wonderful caregiver as you.
Rest In Peace Orange Cat. I hear the sun beams in Cat Heaven are fantastic and the mice are very fat and slow. Bless you Laura. Losing a pet sucks, even when it is time.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your little friend. It's hard even when you know it is the right thing.
Eyebrows,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how much you love your kitties. I hope you, your charming husband and gray cat are coping well.

So sorry to learn about Orange Cat... you certainly did everything possible to ease his last days. I've been through this recently, as well, with two older cats. We continue on, keeping them always in our memories.
I have had to put down two kitties in the past year under difficult circumstances. One was a youngster born with deformed intestines; the other was my first pet and a girl who had lived to 20 years. She developed a sore that wouldn't heal.
I left both on a table in the clinic, covered in the towel I had carried them in with. I left both times in tears, on a weekday, and having to return to work.
Cats are wonderful, the lives of some fleeting, others enduring.
