zzzzzzzz .....

Sorry I haven't posted this week. I've been having an absolutely rotten bout of insomnia that I just can't kick. I'm only semi-functional and actually resorted to Mountain Dew yesterday! I managed to sleep last night, but I've got quite a bit more sleep deficit to catch up on before I'm coherent again.

It gets worse as you get older. Sorry ;(

A 1/4 dose of sleep meds works well for me. Just enough to take the edge off but not enough to zombie ya out the next day.

A day without MtD (aka elixir of the gods) is a day not fully lived.

Melatonin! A couple of 3mg 1 hour before bedime and no problems. You will have very vivid dreams but since it is not a sedative you will not get that groggy morning stuff. You can get it just about anywhere in the vitamin section.

I hate insomnia, I find myself lying in bed thinking "Okay, if I fall asleep RIGHT NOW, I will get 4 hours, 3 minutes of sleep. Oh, shit, I'm going to be tired tomorrow, I have so much to do. If I fall asleep now, I will get 4 hours, 2 minutes of sleep..."

And Jennifer, after 15 years of insomnia, I know better than to lie there going, "Oh, shit, I need to fall asleep right now ...." If I start following that line of thought, I get up and go pay bills or clean the kitchen. At least then I've done something USEFUL while being exhausted.

One night last week I made 3 a.m. bread!

Wow, that's a lot of insomnia. I've only had it sporadically, and usually when I've been really, really stressed out. I feel for you. It sucks to feel exhausted yet unable to sleep.
But 3am bread? Yum.
