There Are Two Kinds of People in the World

Upon my saying that I couldn't make dinner because I discovered to my chagrin that I did not own a pie plate after already starting the recipe:

1) People who say, "Wow, how DID you get to age 30 without owning a pie plate? That's just bizarre."

and

2) People who say, "Um ... why would you own a pie plate?"

Sign me up for "how did you get to 30 without a pie plate?". I don't even make pies (or quiches, or etc. etc.) and I've managed to accumulate three. How, I have no idea; I suspect them of simply appearing in my kitchen when I wasn't looking.

I think I have three that I haven't used. Although one of them is glass and doubles as the lid for a matching casserole dish.

I couldn't tell you where ours are, but I know we have a couple around here somewhere. In the kitchen I think? We inherited them from parents and they get used once or twice a year to make pumpkin pies for the holidays.

Seriously?
You need to help clean-up after a potluck or three. Then you'll have several large spoons that aren't yours as well as an assortment of plates and pans.

We have three, yet I've never really made an honest to goodness pie (not good at crust)...

See, that's the thing! I don't make great pastry dough, and it seems like a lot of work for very little reward, so I guess I've always just bought the pre-made stuff that comes in its own dish.

This time for whatever reason I bought the plain rolled-up fridge pastry dough, only to discover I had no pie plate!

I hear that they make great Frisbees?

My cousin and her husband once had a fight because she had never made him a pie in their 5 years of marriage. She said she couldn't because she didn't have a pie plate. The fight ended with him saying, "Well, I think pie equals love!!"

I gave her a pie plate for her birthday. Then she said, but I can't make crust. So, I taught her how to make crust. I'm pretty sure they still fight, but at least they don't fight about pies.
