The One Thing I Cannot Bake

I dreamed the other night that all future internet programming would no longer be done in html or what have you, but in pastry dough. (What? It was a dream. They're not supposed to make sense.)

I found this extremely upsetting (in the dream), because the one thing I cannot bake to save my life is a decent pie crust.

Yes, I think it should be in cookie dough, I rock the dough in a way I can't the crust...
(Okay, that really doesn't make sense and I don't have the excuse of it being a dream)

You can hardly beat a store bought frozen crust. No one needs to know you didn't actually make the crust.

secrets to excellent pie crust.
use 1/2 shortening 1/2 butter. or if you're brave use lard instead of shortening. use ice cold water. I use the food processer and just bring it barely together with short bursts. The less you work the dough the more tender and flaky it is. chill it well before working with it. Start to finish only a few minutes. Even chill it in the fridge while making the filling. Also have an excellent recipe for pastry dough that can be used for pie crusts. Only thing I tend to buy is puff pastry, it's just too darn much work to make from scratch. Though it tastes great if you have an afternoon to fool with it.
