Zzzzzzzzzz ....

I got a flu shot yesterday. Flu and tetanus shots in particular always make me tired, but this is ridiculous. I was mostly asleep by 7:30 p.m. in front of the TV, out cold by 9 when my husband dragged me off the couch and up to bed, and slept until 10 o'clock this morning.

Now I'm sort-of longing for a nap!

It's good to be married because I drooled on myself while sleeping in front of the TV and he either didn't notice, or didn't say anything. I appreciate that.

So, you think just because of that you should be excused from missing the Blogger Bash that was just down the street from your house last night? Huh. Whatever.... ;-)

Seriously, though, you were missed.

Flu shots are a scam, they only cover 1 strain of the flu, (and its not the one going around) and they make you sick, and make your immune system compromised, in turn making you more sick.

sorry, just wanted to let you know.

Flu shots cover THREE strains of influenza, two influenza A strains and influenza B. That's why it's called a "trivalent" vaccine. Sometimes, like two or three years ago, they guess wrong on which strain will be the most problematic for a given flu season. However, partial immunity provides some protection. Even in that season, those who were vaccinated did not get sick as frequently, and if they did get sick, the severity was often mitigated.

Flu vaccines save lives. Thank you for doing your part, E.M.

It was the 2003-4 season, when the vaccine contained A/Panama, A/New Caledonia, and B/Hong Kong. Another strain called A/Fujian ended up causing problems, but the vaccine still provided partial immunity. That means something, especially when you're looking at large populations.
